The 16^th Annual Al Jazeera Forum to Discuss the Repercussions of the War on Gaza and the Reshaping of the Regional Landscape

Al Jazeera Media Network will host its upcoming annual forum in Doha, the capital of Qatar, under the title, “From the War on Gaza to Change in Syria: Shifting Dynamics in the Middle East” on 15 and 16 February 2025. The forum will feature a distinguished group of thinkers, politicians and experts from around the world, who will discuss the critical issues that have shaped both the regional and international landscapes.

This year’s forum will focus on the geopolitical consequences of Operation Tufan al-Aqsa and the Israeli war on Gaza, examining its profound effects on the region’s power balances. It will also explore the humanitarian and on-the-ground situation in Gaza, along with diplomatic efforts to end the war and the prospects for a political resolution.

As part of the discussion on the regional landscape, the forum will review the impact of the military confrontation between Israel and Hezbollah on Lebanon’s internal affairs and regional stability following the ceasefire.

The forum will also address the “strategic rivalry” between regional and international powers such as Israel, Iran, Turkey, Russia and the United States, in the context of the absence of a clear Arab strategy to address the challenges facing Arab national security.

One of the sessions will be dedicated to the role of the media in Middle East conflicts, particularly regarding the contrasting narratives and stories from various parties. The forum will also highlight the significant influence of social media platforms and content creators in shaping and deconstructing these narratives.

Additionally, the forum will host prominent figures from global solidarity movements, including leaders of Western university movements who played a key role in supporting the Palestinians during the current Israeli aggression.

In another discussion, the forum will explore the impact of the fall of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s regime on Syria’s internal situation and its broader regional consequences, dedicating a session to analysing these effects.

The forum will conclude with a forward-looking vision for the future of the Middle East in light of recent developments in the Palestinian, Lebanese and Syrian arenas, aiming to better understand the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for the region.
