In the context of the increasing encroachment on online personal freedom and privacy by governments around the world and the decreasing accountability of security agencies, different acts and initiatives have come up in defiance. Every day, bloggers, journalists, hackers, activists, and just regular citizens around the world resist their governments' attempts to limit, control and acquire information. Various tools and techniques have been developed to help internet users avoid surveillance and overcome censorship. Movements and initiatives have been set up to resist control over the flow of information on the internet and pressure governments to restrain the abuse and invasion of privacy. During this session, journalists and activists from around the world will their experiences with digital resistance.
