The process of change in the Arab world continues to fumble its way toward the future despite obstacles faced on the transitional and democratic change fronts. In some countries, the confrontation between revolution and counter-revolution forces has become quite intense. In others, a series of national dialogues have been launched to overcome impasses and establish new political systems. Some countries are in the middle, experiencing varying expressions of political and constitutional reforms in response to popular protests and grassroots movements. In light of regional and international complexities, this session will discuss prospects of future paths in transition towards democracy in the Arab region.
