Professor of Social Sciences at Oman Medical College
He holds a PhD in international relations from Durham University, a master’s degree in international relations from Syracuse University, and a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Arizona. Al Ghailani’s academic and intellectual interests include Islamic political ideology, US foreign policy and GCC strategic affairs. He has participated in a large number of academic seminars and political conferences in the region and abroad. Al Ghailani has also published many research papers and articles on the Arab and Gulf affairs. He contributes regularly as a commentator on and analyst of current events on a number of television programmes.
