The 8th AlJazeera Forum, “Change in the Arab World: Where To?”, will be held at the St. Regis Hotel, Doha from 26 to 28 May 2014. There will be around 400 guests in attendance from over 50 countries.
Keynote speakers include Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey Bulent Arinc, head of the Syrian Interim Government Ahmed Tu’mah and former Tunisian Prime Minister Ali Laarayedh. The forum will also be attended by political leaders, experts, and public opinion leaders from several Arab and foreign countries, including Iraq’s Ninawa Governor Atheel Al-Nujaifi; Morocco’s Minister Delegate to the Minister of Higher Education Soumia Benkhaldoun; former advisor to US President Barack Obama Dalia Mogahed; Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and Special Advisor to the Secretary-General on Yemen Jamal Benomar; UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative and Head of the United Nations Support Mission to Libya Tarek Mitri; President of the National Coalition for Syrian Revolution and Opposition Forces Ahmad Jarba; former head of the Syrian National Council Burhan Ghalioun; Executive Director of the Sofia Forum Louisa Slavkova; and senior analyst at the European Union Institute for Security Studies in Paris Florence Gaub.
There will be more parallel sessions at this year’s forum in order to allow guests more opportunities to participate in dialogue. Debate and training sessions will be hosted by AlJazeera Network’s various administrative units, including AlJazeera Media Training and Development Center, AlJazeera Net, AlJazeera English Online, the Public Liberties and Human Rights Department, AlJazeera Balkans and AlJazeera Turk. This year’s forum also boasts unique youth participation, the result of a contest held by AlJazeera Centre for Studies in which 828 youth from 71 countries participated.
Finally, the Organizing Committee has allocated an evening for discussion with AlJazeera Media Network’s General Manager to offer guests the chance to get more acquainted with the network and receive answers to some of their questions about the network’s performance and its future role.
