Member of the House of Lords
A lawyer, a businesswoman, a campaigner and a cabinet minister, Sayeeda Warsi has had many roles, but she is best known for being the first Muslim Cabinet Minister. Appointed to the Lords at the age of 36, making her the youngest member of the House of Lords. She served as Chairman of the Conservative Party 2010-2012 and Senior Minister of State at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Minister for Faith and Communities from 2012-2014. She Resigned in August 2014 over the Government's policy on Gaza. Baroness Warsi has consistently been named as one of the world’s “500 most influential Muslims” by the Middle East think-tank the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre and the most powerful Muslim Woman in Britain by the Equalities and Human Rights Commission.
