Former Minister of Planning and Development and former Member of Parliamentk
Dr Rola Dashti is Chairman of FARO International, Kuwait. She is former Kuwaiti Minister for Planning and Development, and Minister for National Assembly Affairs. Dr Dashti is a former Kuwaiti parliamentarian and a leading Kuwaiti economist and women’s rights activist. In 2005 she lobbied for the passage of the decree to grant women the right to vote and run in parliamentary elections. One year later, she was the first woman to file her papers at the election department when registration opened. She stood as a candidate in the 2006 parliamentary elections. Three years later, in 2009, Dr Dashti finally won a seat. She joined three other women in becoming the first female parliamentarians of Kuwait.
