Founder of Building and Development Party
Dr Tareq Al-Zumour holds a degree in law and a doctorate in political studies from the University in Cairo. For his PhD he studied the goals and aspects of power of the political regime and its effect on public liberties. Dr Al-Zumour also holds diplomas in public law, Islamic law, international law and international relations. In 1981 he was arrested and charged with participating in the assassination of the late President Anwar Sadat. He was released after the January 25 Revolution in 2011. He is a founder and member of the Building and Development Party. He is also member of the Shura Council of al-Gamaa Al-Islamiyya in Egypt and member of the adviser committee to the Shariya Association for Rights and Reform.
