Yemeni parliamentarian
He holds a bachelor’s degree in architectural engineering. He was elected in 1993 as a member of the Yemeni House of Representatives and re-elected in 1998 and 2003, and is still a serving MP. Aslami was the first member to resign from the then ruling General People's Congress in February 2011 to join the people’s revolution in Yemen. He was appointed Secretary of the House of Representatives’ public service committee. Aslami is also Yemen’s representative at the Executive Committee of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union. He contributed to the founding of Yemen Parliamentarians against Corruption (Yemen PAC) in 2005 and has since been a member of its board. Furthermore, Aslami has participated in a number of Arab and global inter-parliamentary conferences.
