Managing Editor of Al-Ahram International
is the supervisor of Arab Reporters for Investigative Journalism Network (ARIJ) in Cairo, Egypt. He served as the bureau chief for Al-Ahram newspaper in Southern Africa, and has over 30 years of experience in the field of traditional and electronic media. Ghanem also served as a war and political correspondent in many countries around the world, and won numerous awards for his coverage of wars, including Man of the Year from the Egyptian Doctors Syndicate in 1995 for his coverage of the Bosnian war from 1992 to 1995, and Best Foreign Investigative Reporting for his coverage of the war in the Democratic Republic of Congo from the South African Association of Foreign Correspondents in 2002. He has written a number of books based on his experience in covering wars in various places, such as Negotiations over Sovereignty in the Middle East: Talks on Arms Reduction between Arab Countries and Israel and Media Disinformation: A Study of Iraq, Libya, Egypt and Bosnia.
