Director of the Central Eurasia Research Department Centre at the University of Tehran

is a Professor of Political Science, the Director of the Central Eurasia Research Department Centre at the University of Tehran, and an Iranian reformist thinker as well as a member of the Islamic Iran Participation Front party. She was a member of the sixth parliament of the Islamic Republic of Iran and a member of the Iranian Parliament’s Committee for Foreign Policy and National Security. Kolaie was nominated by the reformist trend from among six other members for the position of mayor of Tehran, but ranked third. In addition, she chaired the Parliamentary Iranian-Libyan Friendship Group in 2003 as well as the Parliamentary Iranian-Russian Friendship Group from 2002 to 2004. Kolaie authored a book entitled, Politics and Government in Central Eurasia.
