Professor of Sociology at Qatar University and member of the Social Service Programme

He earned a PhD in sociology from the United States, and served as the Vice President of the Hashemite University from 2011 to 2012, the Secretary General of the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities from 2007 to 2008, the Founding Dean of the Social Work Institute at the University of Jordan from 2008 to 2011 and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Social Development 2003- 2006. Al-Olimat was also the head of the Jordanian delegation and member of the drafting committee of the convention on the rights of disabled persons established by the UN General Assembly from 2003 to 2006. He has written a number of articles in international and regional magazines. His research focuses on national strategies for social, economic and sociopolitical development, poverty, youth issues and social issues in general.
