Professor of sociology at Sana’a University
He is a researcher and political analyst of democracy, human rights and marginalised social groups. He served as an academic adviser to several research institutions including the General Center for Studies and the Yemeni Observatory for Human Rights. In addition, he has contributed to the establishment of the Arab Network for Democracy Studies. Al Shargabi has written, edited and contributed chapters to a number of books including The Social Cost of Domestic Violence against Women in Yemen, The Palace and the Chamber: The Political Role of Tribalism in Yemen and Unofficial Operatives in Yemen.
