Chairman of the National Rally for Reform and Development in Mauritania (Tewassoul)
He was a member of the parliament and a candidate in the presidential elections of 2009. He holds a degree in Islamic shari'a from the Research and Islamic Studies Institute and a master’s from Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University. Ould Mansour started his political activism early on in university clubs and societies which led to his imprisonment. In 2004, he returned from exile and became one of the leading opposition figures.
